Children's Day

by 하마타 2023. 5. 5.

Children's Day,

known as "어린이날" (eorininal) in Korean,

is a national holiday in South Korea that is celebrated annually on May 5th.

The holiday was first established in 1923, during the Japanese colonial era, as a way to promote children's rights and well-being.

After Korea gained independence from Japan in 1945, the holiday continued to be celebrated, but with an added emphasis on Korean culture and traditions. In 1961, the Korean government officially designated May 5th as Children's Day, and it has been celebrated as a public holiday ever since.

On Children's Day in Korea, families and communities often hold special events and activities for children, such as parades, picnics, and cultural performances. It is also common for parents to give their children gifts or take them on outings to places like amusement parks or museums.
